Hey girls
We are at day 9 of the overeating journey. WOW!
I want to start today’s post off with a single question: do you have shame tugging at your heart that just does not want to let go?
Me too.
Shame is like a single rotten potato buried between fresh ones, infecting them until they too are rotten. It eats away at your soul, contaminating every single untouched part of you. It makes you feel heavy and burdened, worthless to say the least.
He matures the wine and makes sure that it is ready before serving it to His guests.
Well, today I want to tell you girls a story. It is about a vinedresser pruning away at the branches to yield more fruit. He props up the fruitless branches, taking care of His vineyard. This vinedresser walks through His vineyard every day, making sure it has all it needs to grow into vines that will bear fruit. When the time comes, He harvests the grapes, pressing it to make the finest wine. He matures the wine and makes sure that it is ready before serving it to His guests. The wine that He makes is only the best (John 15:1-8).
It is a well-known parable that Jesus used to teach His disciples but it is not just useful for His disciples. This parable is a life lesson. We cannot exist without the vine giving us life. We cannot bear fruit if the branch is dead.
How does this connect with shame? You see, shame is like a dangerous fungus contaminating the harvest. It causes the grapes to wither. Without allowing the Vinedresser to cure this fungus, the vine will die off, leaving only a dead branch.
I have to open up, let the sun come in
There are areas in my heart that has died off because of contaminating sin and shame. It started as a small sin but it grew to cause death in my heart and my life. In this overeating journey, I have to face these contaminated areas, allowing God to place His healing hand onto it and letting His grace flow like waves over me, washing me clean. He says:"The words I have spoken over you have already cleansed you." (John15:3) I have to open up, let the sun come in and the thorns be removed from my soul.
Dealing with shame does not mean that sins will not be revealed. It simply means that I can repent, take a deep breath and experience freedom again. How wonderful to know that I am set free by the healing blood of Jesus.
Today I want to encourage you girls to spend a moment with Jesus. Allow Him to wash you clean, remove the thorns, and open up the windows of your soul. Let His grace wash over you and be reminded of His goodness.
I pray that every girl smothered with shame, will be able to breathe again. I pray that the dark cloud hanging over you, making you feel worthless, will dissipate to make way for sunshine.
We were made to live with joy in our hearts. We were created to be light to the world.
Lots of love
Inge xx
