FREEDOM FROM OVEREATING: DAY 37

Hey ladies

Rules and guidelines. There are people who thrive on them and there are people who rebel against them. I’m usually like the first kind who thrives on rules and guidelines.

I like rules because they give structure, they make me feel safe and they also give me expectation of the future. Without rules, my life feels chaotic and unsure. Rules can also be my fall sometimes. I live to achieve the goal of the rules instead of living in a loving, obedient relationship with God whose heart is to help us by giving guidelines (Colossians 1:16-17).

I need to know God’s heart behind His motives.

I have rules to keep me from overeating. This sounds dangerous because we no longer live by the law (Rom. 7:6); however I find it easier to follow these rules once I’ve asked God why He has instructed me to follow them. I need to know God’s heart behind His motives.

God’s character in providing guidelines for my rule-orientated brain helps me to be healthy. I struggle to understand His character in this sometimes, but I have to trust and allow Him to lead. Following is hard but it’s worth it. It is worth the struggle, temptation and battles.

The One who is Love (1 John. 4:7).

Through this journey, there hasn’t been a day where God hasn’t taught me how to be devoted to Him and love Him above all else. My journey centred around laying down idols, but also around returning to my first love: The One who is Love (1 John. 4:7).

Instead of a challenge, I want to share a thought with you beautiful ladies today: Every command God has ever given you, isn’t to torture you or keep you from having fun; it’s to save you from sin and its dire consequences.

Lots of Love

Inge xx
