FREEDOM FROM OVEREATING: DAY 26

Hey girls

Let’s talk about idols. An idol by definition is a person or a thing greatly admired and loved. An idol becomes the sole object you live for. It consumes your every thought and all your precious time. It hides in plain sight, leaving you blind to the fact that you are worshiping it. It leaves you feeling empty, seeking more of its solace, until you have nothing left to give.

Laying down this idol meant that I had to die to my own flesh again and again every new day

One of the objectives of the overeating journey for me, was to lay down my idol. Laying down this idol meant that I had to die to my own flesh again and again everyday (John 12: 24- 26).

‘It’s a piece of cake. Does it have control over you or do you have control over it?’

It took until today for me to see the idol for what it truly was. I used to be ruled by food. I used to be hypnotized and left in a haze of thoughts consumed by the item I craved.

Today, though, I sat in front of a chocolate cake, craving it, knowing that it took every inch of my self-control to not binge on it. Then came the soft whisper: ‘It’s a piece of cake. Does it have control over you or do you have control over it?’

The haze was cleared up; a new day has dawned. I stood up in the authority given to me by Jesus Christ when He was raised from the dead, overcoming the devil.

Isn’t it time for you to stand up in that same victory that has been earned on your behalf? What idol is hypnotizing you in your life, leaving you trapped in a haze? It’s time to crush that idol with your heel (Gen 3:15) and I hope you do it with a pair of gorgeous high heels.

This is God’s message to you tonight:

“You are no longer a victim, my beloved daughter. Rise up warrior girl. Take up your armour and stand tall. Your battle is over, defeated; now walk in that victory.”

I pray that this truth will settle in every heart tonight.

Lots of Love

Inge xx
