Bloom Blissfully: Experiencing the freedom of forgiveness

Hey Ladies,

Today I want to talk to you about forgiveness. For some of you this might be an easy one, and for some, it might feel like a painful arrow, ultimately spreading bitterness and heaviness in your heart.

The word forgive can mean to leave alone, to send away, to pardon or to cancel a debt.

We all live in a fallen world with plenty of hurt, pain, misunderstandings, offence and rejection. It takes everything in us to respond properly towards one another when we feel mistreated or emotionally hurt. As we wrong someone or vice versa, we long to seek for forgiveness so that the relationship can be restored. It isn’t always simple, but sometimes it is necessary to act out of mercy, love and grace.

"Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."…Ephesians 4:32

The good news is that we can receive God’s forgiveness at any time, in return, we should also learn to be kind towards others and forgive those around us. To forgive doesn’t mean that you must approve or accept the person’s habitual wrong behaviour, it also doesn’t mean that we should act out in the same harmful manner. We can simply release our clenching fists of frustration and hurt and give them to God along with all the wrongs committed against us.

In that act of mercy and grace, the bitterness and heaviness that was caused by the arrow of hurt, will slowly fade away.

As I was writing today’s blog post about forgiveness, I couldn’t stop humming this song in the background (undeniably a gentle whisper from the Holy Spirit):

Your forgiveness

Is like sweet, sweet honey

On my lips

Like the sound of a symphony

To my ears

Like holy water on my skin

Holy Water - We the Kingdom

May we always rely on His patient, loving, and forgiving heart. May we genuinely experience the freedom of forgiveness towards others as we sink into His depths of honey-sweet forgiveness towards us.

"For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you."… Psalm 86:5

If you feel that you really struggle with forgiveness in your life, pray this prayer of forgiveness and let the Holy Spirit take control:

'Dear Heavenly Father, tonight I want to take a bold step and forgive those who have wronged against me. May I release them and simultaneously allow You to heal me so that I may not dwell in the past. Thank you for being such a gentle, loving Father who gracefully forgives as I have now forgiven them who have sinned against me (Matt 6:12). May we always rely on you for filling us with Your unconditional love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lots of Love

Tehillah

xx
