LIFE IN A TIME OF DEATH AND ILLNESS

Hey Beauties

So I’m going to kick off this week by posting about Life in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.

What do you think of when you think of life?

What do you think of when you think of life? Maybe a seed germinating, bringing forth a new plant with new seeds or a baby being born, taking it’s first gulp of air and crying out for the world to know it has been born; an egg with a little chick breaking through the shell haven it has been living in, seeing sunlight for the first time? These are all facets of LIFE.

I used to think of life as this non-stop cycle I’m daily going through: Work, Eat, Sleep, Repeat. This concept changed about a week ago.

This metamorphosis that my concept of LIFE was going through, happened in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. I was home from University when a friend came to visit me, speaking about how God is Healer. Before the coffee date we had, I was on cloud-9 with Jesus. Afterwards I was on rocky ground. It was as if a massive bomb has dropped between Jesus and I (a bomb that ought to have gone off months earlier but was saved until I could really deal with the aftermath of it). I remember confessing to Jesus that I don’t really believe He is Healer although He has healed me before of illness. Jesus didn’t change towards me. He wasn’t more awkward in our relationship. He didn’t struggle to find a topic to chat about because of the awkward silence that filled the space between us. NO. Jesus embraced this doubt and unbelief. He saw it as dry ground, perfect to start ploughing, watering, preparing for planting in so that new LIFE can grow in it.

Together, Jesus and I worked through the doubt. First He asked began by confronting me with Bible stories about Him healing the Lame. In John 5 I read about the lame man that laid at the pool at Betsaida. Jesus healed this man. The word healing alone, means little to me. I’m a pharmacist. Pills heal. They do it in different mechanisms but still they heal. BUT here I read about Jesus healing. While I read this story, the Holy Spirit prompted me to think about how Jesus healed, the physiology of it. NEURONS. Jesus had to heal this lame man’s neurons, giving signals to his brain to move his muscles, moving his legs, enabling him to walk. MUSCLES. Jesus probably had to build up this man’s muscles after being lame for 38 years and therefore having muscle degeneration. My scientific-thinking mind was blown. Healing for this man wasn’t just a quick fix. Healing came by restoration to the normal state.

This normal state began when God created the universe and man (LIFE). This normal state encapsulates LIFE as it was intended. But then what is LIFE? LIFE is the opposite of death (being caused by illness or accident). LIFE is not just a characteristic of God, it is who God is. God is life and therefore the Son also possesses life (John 5:26). God is: the Giver of life and Sustainer of Life. God is the Way, Truth and LIFE (John 4:16).

Today, when I think of the concept of LIFE, I think of Jesus and God, creating Heaven and earth; of the health.

Today, when I think of the concept of LIFE, I think of Jesus and God, creating Heaven and earth; of the health. Explaining this in words, degrades the whole concept of God as LIFE but I had to try. Currently I’m still not 100% sure what God as Healer means but I know that God IS Healer. I believe that God will work more faith into my heart, toiling the ground, making it fruitful so that the produce will bring overflowing wine.

So, today I want to encourage you beautiful ladies: We have been given LIFE by God. This LIFE is precious. Preserve this life by washing your hands for 20 seconds, sanitizing your hands, not touching your face, greeting people with an elbow greeting (this is so hard for me personally as I love giving hugs).

Although this virus is a small micro organism, it already made a huge impact on LIFE on earth. This impact isn’t larger than God or what He can do. I urge you ladies to be responsible. If you are in SA and living in lock down, find something creative to do and STAY AT HOME. Use this time to spend with God, to create, to rest. When you go out to buy groceries, be generous (also in taking up responsibility), be kind, shine light.

Sit down today and think of how God has created LIFE when He created you fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14).

Furthermore, sit down today and think of how God has created LIFE when He created you fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14). Thank God for sustaining your life and ask Him to show you how to preserve life in this time.

Let’s rise up together as a sisterhood, taking up responsibility, praying together for this pandemic, supporting each other, loving each other, staying in contact, shining God’s light. Let’s make a difference (even if it seems small). The revolution starts here!

Enjoy your week Beauties.

Lots of love

Inge xx
